At least 52 cattle were killed by a train on the axis of Kasary-Djer in the district of the local administration of Chikkun in the state of Kaduna.
The command of the Kaduna Police on Sunday confirmed the fact of the accident.
Authorized Malam Ahmad Abdulraman denied reports that cattle were killed in other ways.
"There is nothing like an attack, it's just a traveling trip, so no one should panic," he told reporters in Kaduna.
According to him, the cattle were crushed to death around 11:45 this morning by a high-speed train going to Abuja from the Rigas railway station.
He also explained that 27 cattle who were injured were killed by the chief butcher of the village of Kasarami.
He said that no human casualties were recorded.
"When the information about the accident reached the team, I quickly mobilized our people to the site to assess the situation."
He described the accident as miserable. He said that the shepherds move to the local government of Pound in the state of Kacin.
"They innocently asked if there were railway services on Sunday, but they were misinformed that they were not.
"I summoned the traditional rulers of this region, youth and farmers to the need to continue living in peace and to avoid unhindered crossing of the railway track with agricultural products and animals.
He added that a similar meeting will be held with officials of the railway corporation on how to prevent such an accident in the future. (NAN)
