Traditional Ruler Tasks FG On Provision Of Dams To Address Dry Season Idleness


The Tafidan Birnin Magaji, Alhaji Hassan Umar Dan Galadima of Birnin Magaji Emirate Council in Zamfara State, has called on the Federal Government to provide more dams to improve agricultural production for farmers in Zamfara State and the North Senatorial District in particular.

According to the traditional ruler, while interacting with newsmen in Kaduna, majority of the people in the area which comprises of Birnin Magaji, Kauran Namoda, Shinkafi and Zurmi local governments are largely farmers.

He said after the rainy season farming, farmers in the area would be jobless for lack of irrigation facilities in the settlements, stressing that the provision of dam is very important because it would enable the farmers to boost agricultural production throughout the year and also create job opportunities.

He also stated that with the growing effects of climate change on weather patterns, more irrigation is needed to boost agricultural production nationwide. Lagos Approves Sale Of Lake Rice

The Tafida therefore called on the Federal Government to provide them with dams to aid irrigation in the settlements of Zamfara North to boost agricultural production and provide all-year round jobs.
