Rural Spark Signs New Partnership in Nigeria

On Thursday the 13th of December Tolu-tope Dade, CEO of Smartpower and Shagun Jain the VP Partnerships of Rural Spark officially signed a partnership document in the presence of Michel Deelen (Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) and Sonia Fajusigbe (Adviser Economic, Trade & Investment Affairs) at the Netherlands representation office in Lagos. The partners are to associate themselves in the solar business that will meet the power needs of the unserved and underserved market in Nigeria.

Rural Spark is a Dutch company that develops smart grid solutions that enable rural villagers to generate and sell energy. Rural Spark provides people with energy kit, consisting of an energy source, a router and Rural Spark cubes to power appliances of choice.

The router functions like a range of power sockets. Customers can use the products or charge mobile phones or lamps for their neighbours, having the opportunity to earn additional income. Also, the Spark Cubes enable the trade of energy between different entrepreneurs.
