In order to ensure the mass production of cassava in the state, the State Agricultural Development Program of the State of Oyo (OYSADEP) entered into a partnership with HarvestPlus, an agricultural company specializing in the reproduction of cassava stalks, to distribute stems to farmers of "group leaders and extension agents".
The distribution, assembled by the Nigerian tribune, will soon be extended to farmers for further planting in all 33 local areas of the state.
The leaders of groups of farmers and producers in the state received Kassava stems during the training, which was organized for them recently.
The program manager, OYSADEP, Ms. Fadekemi Akande, noted that the training is aimed at reaching out to its entire value chain, adding that the training will be continuous.
She said that training is designed to raise awareness among farmers about the production and importance of cassava vitamin A with its nutritional benefits and wide application.
The beneficiaries were trained in a series of cassava production processes, some of which include; the best agricultural methods, the safe use of agrochemicals, accounting and savings.
The seminar was attended by: Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Oyo, Victor Atiola, OYSADEP and HarvestPlus officials, extension agents, farmers and other relevant stakeholders.
