Ondo to partner Lagos on rice production

The provincial government of Ondo says that it will cooperate with the Government of Lagos State for the production of rice.
The Agriculture Commissioner in Adegboedega Adefarati said this during the review of the Fadama 111 additional financing projects in the local government district of Akure North.
Adefarathi said the state government provided more than 4,000 acres of land in Ogbes, Okitipupe, Es-Odo and Eilay for rice production.
He said: "The Lagos state government, as it does with the state of Kebbi, comes to the state of Ondo to cooperate with us in the production of rice."
The Commissioner said that the rice factory based on Fadama will be put into operation for the production of rice in the state.
Having inspected the installation of a 14-ton rice workshop financed by the Fadama project in Ogresie, Adefarati said that farmers received support in connection with government intervention through the prompt payment of a mutual contribution.
Adefarati, who also visited the 20-hectare collective farm of the Iju-Iphedapo cluster in the local government district of Akure-North, called on farmers to continue to support the administration in order to receive more dividends for good governance.
The Commissioner assured farmers that the state government would soon pass laws that would prevent a conflict between peasants and shepherds in the state.
Ajewole Ajisafe, chairman of the production cluster at Ogbese, attributes the success recorded on the farm to a peaceful and harmonious relationship between farmers and shepherds.
Ajisafeh said that the shepherds in the community acted in the area without conflicts, adding that it was a recipe for relationships.
