“Verify Farmers’ Encroachment On Forestry” Ondo state government has mentioned that farmers working within the forest reserves throughout the state should embrace the introduction of self-identity card by the state government for straightforward identification.
The state commissioner for natural resources, Alhaji Rasheed Badmus, said this throughout a visit to cocoa farmers in Odigbo local government area of the state.
Addressing the farmers, Badmus mentioned the ministries of Natural Resources and Agriculture was on data capturing drive for farmers working in government forest reserves with a view to hold document of original allottees within the state.
In keeping with him, it’s necessary for the state government to have an information base of farmers operating in government forest reserves throughout the state to prevent encroachment able to jeopardising government’s efforts towards rejuvenating the forest reserves.
He implored them to proceed to guard government plantation, which he mentioned have been main sources of income to the state.
