The Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State is to engage in experimental cashew plantation to boost the school’s internally generated revenue.
Acting rector of the institution, Dr. Ayodele Olaosebikan, made the announcement while speaking during its 8th combined convocation held at the school’s permanent site, where 26,955 graduated, for the 2009/2010 session.
”As part of efforts to increase internally generated revenue of the school, it is engaging in an experimental cashew plantation from the next planting season to make use of the vast expanse of land at the permanent site.
“The school has two hectares of land that have been used for its potato experimental farm and has cultivated about nine species of the crop which have been harvested,” Olaosebikan said.
She expressed satisfaction that all programmes in the school have been fully accredited.
