About three million tons of rice will be produced this year in Kano, said Deputy Governor Nasir Yusuf Gavuna.
Gawuna made it known to reporters while evaluating the achievements of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Gawuna, who oversees the ministry, said the state has registered a huge increase in the yield of rice and other grains since 2015.
According to him, despite the enormous problems associated with the development of agriculture, in terms of mechanization and technology, the administration of Gandue reduced rice imports, thereby saving billions of bunks per year.
“Since the time when His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Gandouy took office in 2015, every year we are growing in the state.
Gavuna said: “For example, in 2015 we collected about 690,000 tons of rice, in 2016 we collected 1.5 million tons; in 2017 we collected more than two million tons of rice, and certainly this year we are the head of what we did in 2017, collecting about three million tons of rice, ”he said.
According to him, various efforts were made to produce high-quality and inexpensive fertilizer through the revival of the state agricultural food company (CASCO), which suffered neglect during the previous administrations.
