The federal government has said it would organise a one-day seminar on food packaging and group formation in Sokoto State to commemorate this year’s international women’s day celebrations.
The seminar which is expected to be on group formation and streams of value that can be derived from agricultural products indigenous to local communities of Sokoto State, aims at providinn participants with the best methods of processing, packaging and value addition.
In a release by the Office of the minister of state, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar, the seminar tagged “Be Bold for Change” hopes to positively impact the lives of the women and help build their capacity for sustainable enterprises.
The statement reads in part, “Annually the 8th of March has been set aside by the United Nations (UN) to celebrate the contribution of women to the socio economic environment of Nigeria. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political divisions.
“To commemorate and celebrate 2017 International Women’s Day with the theme “Be Bold for Change”, the Office of the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is organising a one day seminar on Food Packaging and Group Formation in Sokoto State.”
“The seminar is expected to be on group formation and streams of value that can be derived from agricultural products indigenous to local communities of Sokoto State. The training will provide participants with the best methods of processing, packaging and value addition to Groundnut, Soya beans, Sugar cane, Wheat, Rice, Maize, Baobab and Beans for sustainable profitability. 200 women are expected to be trained in commemoration of the 2017 international women day.”
