The Board of Governors of Oi State University of Agriculture and Technology suspended the activity of all workers' unions in the institution after their refusal to suspend a three-month month-long strike.
This suspension was announced in a statement published by the Secretary and Secretary of the Council of Nia Fehintol, which was provided to the Information Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan on Saturday.
The trade unions are affected by the Polytechnic Academic Staffing Association, the Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Polytechnic Institute and the Union of Non-Academic Personnel.
NAN recalls that unions have launched an indefinite strike due to non-payment of wage arrears and low welfare.
The council accused the trade unions of obstructing access to the institution by blocking the gate, thus preventing officials and visitors from walking on legal matters.
The council said that the activities of all trade union workers in the institution were suspended with immediate effect and instructed all staff to resume work.
The council also instructed management to open attendance for staff to sign, refer to the government’s “No Work, No Payment” policy, dissolve the student union, and announce a two-week break for students.
He urged staff members to immediately resume work, sign the registry and perform their normal duties without fear of close attention.
