As part of its efforts to expand the agricultural sector, the federal government of Nigeria has established a mechanism for the development of the beekeeping industry.
President Muhammad Bukhari did this at the sixth APIEXPO Africa 2018 exhibition: “The beekeeping industry for sustainable development, wealth creation and economic diversification” in Abuja.
Presented by the Secretary of the Federation Government, Mr. Boss Guide Mustafa, Bukhari noted that the government is building up the capacity of beekeepers and processors for the development of the sector.

He noted that this would help strengthen ties with regional and international corporations, especially in cross-pollination of ideas.
In his speech at the event, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, encouraged beekeepers and processors to work kindly to ensure the best standards for the sector.
