Eat the Pheasant rice to boost food safety, Amosun accuses the Nigerian

The governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunl Amosun, accused the Nigerians of eating regularly the local "rice of Ofad" to increase food security and encourage those involved in the agricultural business in the country.

Amosun revealed this in this year's edition of the Food and Identity Festival, organized by the Cultural Studies Institute of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun.

The governor said that the government and people of Ogun state are proud that they are identified with the stronghold of training.

"The theme of this festival" Food and Identity "resonates with the initiatives of our administration in the field of agriculture and food security. The rice paddy gathered back with renewed investment and government support in today's Ogun state.

"We believe that agriculture and, more appropriate, agribusiness, with its accompanying value chain, can change the narrative of our country's excessive and dangerous dependence on oil. We urge all of you and, indeed, all Nigerians to accept and pay more attention to Ophade Rice. He is healthier and much more nutritious, "Amosun said.

Speaking earlier, OAE Vice-Chancellor Professor Etoop Ogunbodede said that the university is striving to meet the goals of its founding fathers, paying special attention to the study, promotion and preservation of African culture.

"The festival aims to consolidate the place and memory of our local food culture in the psyche of our youth and to confirm our ability to survive as a people through the adoption and preservation of our culture," Ogunbodede said.

The ceremony was attended by Nobel Prize laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who was represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of his country.
