The Sokoto command from the Nigerian Customs (NCS) seized 517 sacks of foreign rice and 320 parcels of Indian hemp by 1 kg smuggled illegally into the country.
Addressing reporters on Saturday at Sokoto, her controller, GimbaUmar, said that other items confiscated included 34 sacks of sugar and 45 bales of second hand clothes that were intercepted on different tracks in the states of Sokoto and Kebbi during the last two weeks.
Umar said that the subjects total value paid of N14.9 million.
He said that Indian hemp was wrapped in a paw one kilogram each, when a Volkswagen Golf car passing them was detained.
According to him, not a single suspect was arrested because the suspects fled and left the car in unfinished construction.
He expressed gratitude to the police for their support, which contributed to the successful understanding of illegal substances, stressing that, when circumstances were approaching a customs point, suspicion was quickly rejected.
The Controller said that in other areas where items were intercepted, Argungu-Kangiva, Illela, Sokoto-Gusau, Kamba and Dole Kainaksis were included.
