CSOs Task Corporate Bodies To Complement Govt’s Efforts In Agric

Civil society organizations in the Ondo state called on private organizations to complement government efforts in the agricultural sector.

The group’s representative, Mr. Franklin Oloniou, said this in Akura during a stakeholder dialogue to address the problems faced by small female farmers in the state.

Oloniu explained that this is a five-year public sector accountability program with tags: “Partnership to involve, reform and learn” (PERL), funded by the United Kingdom, the Department for International Development (DFID).

According to him, “the government of the state of Ondo recorded positive steps in its contribution to the growth of the agricultural sector, which led to significant economic development for all citizens.”

Due to financial constraints on the part of the government, Olonia, who is the Director-General of the Organization for Development of Life and Peace (LAPDO), called on the government to develop new methods for financing agriculture.
