To cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic, Animal Care Services Konsult has donated 2,000 freshly dressed chickens; 19,200 eggs (160 cartons); 1,200 bottles of family size 3 litre bottles; and 20,000 bottles of 60cl Funtuna water to Lagos and Ogun State Governments, for distribution to the needy, and those risking their lives daily to fight the disease.
The gesture was also extended to the host communities of the company-Ogere and Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The two communities got 250 freshly dressed chickens; 4,800 eggs (40 cartons); 600 bottles of family size 3-litre bottles; and 250 bottles of 60cl Funtuna water each.
The breakdown of the items simultaneously presented in the two states showed that each of the states got 1,000 chickens; 10,000 bottles of 60cl Funtuna water; 600 bottles of family size 3L bottles and 9,600 eggs (80 cartons).
The Executive Director, Funtuna Ventures/Animal Care Services, Mrs. Tolu Olumide, who made the presentation to state Commissioner of Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal, at the Agric Development Centre, Oko-Oba, Agege, said the company recognised that the crisis isn’t merely a health crisis, but one with incredible economic impacts across the world, making life harder for everyone, including those in local communities.
“We first of all want to say that our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are suffering physically, as well as those who are risking their lives daily as a direct result of this global pandemic.
“In light of this, we at Animal Care Services Konsult would like to pledge our support to the government of Nigeria, and in particular the
government of Lagos State in their valiant efforts to help alleviate some of the sufferings during this difficult time.”
She appealed to all Nigerians to continue to follow government’s hygiene and social distancing recommendations, and continues to stay safe.
In his response, Lawal, who appreciated the company for the gesture, assured that the state would efficiently distribute the goods to the needy and vulnerable in the state.
He appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to support the state, in order to have enough to distribute to support Lagosians at this period.
“If you are not yet in the radar, we are coming. Yes, there are some areas that have not been covered, but we are doing everything to ensure we touch all the areas in the state.”
The Senior Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Health, Dr. Ololade Kehinde appreciated the company for the gesture, promising that the items will be distributed well.
