The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu, has charged the leadership of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) to do more in the area of disseminating information about the progress in the President Muhammadu Buhari-led agricultural revolution.
Okechukwu, who gave the charge after the emergence of Hajia Sa’a Ibrahim as the chairperson of BON, stressed that Buhari’s agribusiness revolution is a policy designed to ensure food security.
While congratulating Hajia Sa’a on her electoral victory, Okechukwu noted that her election is a milestone since she becomes the first lady chair of BON.
He said: “Permit me to appeal that in crisis time as we have today, we broadcasters should, as a matter of urgent national importance, publicise the ongoing agricultural revolution.
“Mr. President as a former oil minister has carefully over the years watched the vagaries of international oil price, which cannot be relied upon and reasoned that the best option is to diversify our economy by investing heavily in modern agricultural techniques.
Okechukwu recalled that the 1999 Constitution mandated the Fourth Estate of the realm to criticise bad government policies and project good ones, adding that Buhari’s agric policy ranks among the good ones that should be marketed for the collective good of all.
