Reliable sources in Niger state understand that the Federal Polytechnic Bida has completed the building a Shea butter processing centre which they donated to the people of Ekosa community in Lavun local government area of the state.
As part of its effort towards reviving the local industry, the institution also donated electro-manual operated blowers to Dokodza and Tswatamukun communities within Bida town to help in production of brass works.
ABU aka Dzukogi, who is the Rector of the Polytechnic said during the handing over of the processing centre that the gesture was part of the Institution’s corporate social responsibility to the people of its host communities.
“Our main focus is towards revamping the dying local industries by introducing to them modern technology that could improve their production process and products,” he noted.
Usman Ukene, the chairman of the Institution’s CSR committee, divulged that the provision of the shea butter center came as a result of the observation of the people of Ekosa who have long been carrying out their daily processing activity of the agricultural commodity under the sun. Therefore, the provision of the centre can be said to have brought a huge relief to the farmers who have always been known to be involved in the local and hectic pattern of processing.
