ANTI-GRAZING LAW: Fayose begins enforcement, arrests cow

In a bid to demonstrate the seriousness of his administration to enforce the anti-grazing law, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, yesterday on Afao-Ekiti road, Irepodun-Ifelodun local government area, led security men and some youths to arrest one of the cows that was grazing along the road.

The anti-grazing law signed a few weeks ago, by Governor Fayose only allowed the grazing of cattle within the hours of 7am- 6pm.

According to the Governor’s Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, the two herdsmen grazing the cows ran into the bush while youths pursued the cows and got one of them arrested.
Olayinka said, “Governor Fayose was on his way to Ikole Ekiti yesterday, he came across herdsmen along Afao Ekiti road, Ado Ekiti around  7pm  on Wednesday. The governor demonstrated the seriousness of the State Anti-Grazing Law by personally seeing to it that one of the COWS was “arrested” by youths who chased the cows after the herdsmen ran into the bush upon seeing the governor’s security men.
The remaining cows ran into the bush too.” The governor’s spokesperson also disclosed that the Ekiti Grazing Enforcement Marshalls (EGEM) will start work in few days’ time.
