Agric entrepreneurs suggests agric as solution to hunger, youth unemployment

Agriculture has been described as a powerful tool to reduce the alarming rate of poverty and hunger in Nigeria and other developing countries of the world.

Approximately 1 billion people in the world are said to be very hungry, especially in developing countries, while an average of 12.9 percent of the developing population is undernourished.

In a conversation with the chief executive of the Divine Virtue of Animalistic Konsult, Mr. Oluvasola Clement, he said: "There is a saying that when we eliminate hunger from poverty, poverty is almost over."

He said that to improve the living standards of the masses, agriculture and the development of the value chain are the best ways.

Agriculture, he said, can eradicate poverty in Nigeria, if the government can provide some basic agricultural resources for small farms, which, he added, will reduce hunger and poverty.

It is believed that agricultural production can transform the rural economy, stimulate rapid economic and industrial growth and help disadvantaged communities.

As the population of Nigeria increases daily, it is necessary to do the necessary things in the agricultural sectors so that the growing population does not face food security problems.

The government should increase budget allocations for agriculture at both the federal and state levels and create a scheme for absorbing fresh graduates in agriculture, making their certificates their pledges to the government to facilitate the receipt of loans for agriculture after their education.

In Nigeria, there is land, technical know-how, labor and everything needed to produce food not only for Nigeria, but also for Africa.

The government should ensure a good road and regular electricity supply if it really wants to develop agriculture in rural communities.

"I feel that the government is doing something, but they are not enough.

They must do more to reduce poverty in Nigeria, "said Mohisola Karigidi, founder of Moepelorse Bio Resources, told The Guardian.
