Director General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan, has said 540 unemployed youths in Osun State with passion for agriculture will be trained in arable crop and livestock farming.
Ladan said the training will be held in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to him, the programme, tagged: Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS), is in line with Federal Government’s policy on agriculture to tackle employment and create wealth.
Represented by Osun State NDE Coordinator, Mr. Sola Daramola, the agency chief directed concerned state offices to ensure that shortlisted participants are trained for four months in modern agricultural production.
He said the objectives are to enhance food production, provide more profitable farm income, enhance quality of life for families, communities and provide jobs.
Ladan said beneficiaries would be given further orientation and business start-up training to enable them prepare feasibility study on agro-based enterprise.
According to him, the training will boost participants’ chances to qualify for agricultural loan from financial institutions, state or local governments.
